Barnacle Babes Belgian Dubbel

A special “Thank You!” brew honoring our past board president Connie, named after her ladies’ night bowling team of yesteryear where–according to legend–countless pitchers of Belgian Dubbel were bravely vanquished. C’mon, we can’t make this sh*t up! BJCP style guidelines describe it as, “A deep reddish-copper, moderately strong, malty, complex Trappist ale with rich malty flavors, dark or dried fruit esters, and light alcohol blended together in a malty presentation that still finishes fairly dry…Originated at monasteries in the Middle Ages, and was revived in the mid-1800s after the Napoleonic era.” Fermented with a wild yeast we captured locally, producing great Belgian-style fruity esters and black pepper and clove phenols. We’re throwing rocks tonight!
